Detailed Eligibility- East Coast Railway Recruitment

Scouting And Guiding Qualifications-

  • Individuals holding a President Scout/Guide/Rover/Ranger title or Himalayan Wood Badge (HWB) in any section are eligible.
  • Candidates must have been active members of a Scouts organization for the past 5 years. The “Certificate of Activeness” should adhere to the specifications outlined in Annexure-III.
  • Applicants should have participated in two events at the National level or All Indian Railways’ level, as well as two events at the State level.

Level 1
  • Candidates need either a 10th standard certificate or ITI qualification, or an equivalent from a recognized Board for eligibility.

  • Candidates must possess a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT for positions in Civil Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, Signal & Telecom Department, and Catering Wing of Railways.
  • Candidates with either a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) granted by NCVT or ITI certification and a 10th pass are eligible.
Level 2
  • Candidates must have completed the 12th (+2 stage) or its equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate. NTPC categories mandate a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. However, SC/ST/Ex-servicemen candidates and those with higher qualifications like Graduation/Post Graduation are exempt from this criterion.

  • Technical Categories require a matriculation pass or its equivalent from a recognized board. Additionally, an ITI certificate is mandatory.

  • Ex-servicemen candidates with over 6 months of service post-attestation are eligible for a concession equivalent to their service duration in Defense plus an additional 3 years.
  • Other eligibility criteria will be under the prevailing Government regulations.

Selection Process
  • The organization will summon eligible candidates who apply in response to the notification for the Written Examination.
  • The organization will shortlist only candidates who have achieved a minimum of 35% marks in the Written Test and are within five times the number of vacancies for document verification, during which marks based on their certificates will be awarded.
  • The merit list generated from the Written Test will serve as the criterion for shortlisting candidates for document verification (DV).
Written Test
  • The written test will comprise 40 objective questions (40 marks) and 1 essay-type question (20 marks) concerning the Scouts and Guides Organization, its activities, and General Knowledge for Group-C and former Gr.D positions.
  • Negative marking will be applicable in the written test, with 1/3rd of the marks allotted for each Objective Type Question deducted for every wrong answer.
  • The duration of the written test will be 60 minutes.
Certificate Marks
  • Participation or service rendered in National events/National Jamboree (including All Indian Railway Events) will be awarded 10 marks.
    • The first two certificates, which signify the minimum eligibility qualification, will not be awarded any marks.
    • Participation in one additional event will be rewarded with 7 marks.
    • Participation in two or more additional events will be rewarded with 10 marks.
  • Participation or service rendered in State events or rallies will be awarded 10 marks.
    • The first two certificates, representing the minimum eligibility qualification, will not be assigned any marks.
    • Participation in one additional event will be awarded 7 marks.
    • Participation in two or more additional events will be awarded 10 marks.
  • Specialized Scout/Guide courses organized at the National/State/All Indian Railways level will be rewarded with 10 marks.
    • Participation in one course will be rewarded with 7 marks.
    • Participation in two or more courses will be awarded 10 marks.
  • Participation in District Rallies will be awarded 10 marks.
    • One certificate will not be awarded any marks.
    • Two certificates will be awarded 7 marks.
