Selection Process for UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2025
The UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2025 will be conducted in three stages:
Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)
Main Examination (Conventional Type)
Personality Test (Interview)
Each stage is designed to assess the candidates’ technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and suitability for various engineering roles in government departments.
1. Preliminary Examination:
The preliminary exam will be an objective-type test consisting of two papers:
Paper I: General Studies and Engineering Aptitude (200 marks)
Paper II: Discipline-specific technical paper (300 marks)
Total Marks: 500
The exam duration is 5 hours in total.
2. Main Examination:
The main exam is a descriptive-type test consisting of two technical papers based on the candidate’s engineering discipline:
Paper I: 300 marks
Paper II: 300 marks
Total Marks: 600
3. Personality Test:
Candidates who qualify the written exams will be called for an interview, which carries 200 marks.
The final merit list will be prepared based on the cumulative scores of the Main Examination and the Personality Test.
