Eligibility Criteria for UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2025

Candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria to apply for the UPSC ESE 2025:

Educational Qualification:

  • A candidate must have an engineering degree in one of the following disciplines from a recognized university:
    • Civil Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering

Nationality:

  • The candidate must be:
    • A citizen of India, or
    • A subject of Nepal, Bhutan, or
    • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Age Limit (As of January 01, 2025):

  • Minimum Age: 21 years
  • Maximum Age: 30 years (i.e., a candidate must have been born between January 2, 1995, and January 1, 2004).
  • Age Relaxation: Additional relaxation is provided for reserved categories as per government rules:
    • SC/ST: 5 years
    • OBC: 3 years
    • PWD: 10 years

Selection Process for UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2025

The UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2025 will be conducted in three stages:

  1. Preliminary Examination (Objective Type)
  2. Main Examination (Conventional Type)
  3. Personality Test (Interview)

2. Main Examination:
